Hi, we are Otis and Kilian. At Scale Ale, we had the shared idea of brewing our own beer. We met while studying in our final semesters at University and quickly realized that we had more in common than just lectures and projects: a passion for good beer and the desire to create something of our own.

Where our journey started. A very limited edition (only 40 bottles) of our very first hoppy, fruity Pale Ale with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste. Maybe not the best in terms of craftsmanship, but already packed with potential…
Owl Beer - Genesis Batch
To experiment further with top-fermented beer styles, we created a pretty light-weight, balanced Kölsch-Style Golden Ale in our first professionally packaged series – perfect for a chill summer sunset.
Every batch
is 100%100% unique.
As we are not a commercial brewery, our recipes are truly unique and limited to very small batches. We aim for brewing experimental, creative beers that simply taste awesome, not for consistency. That also (sadly) means: If it’s gone, it’s gone for good.
Otis
Born in Munich and raised in Hamburg, Otis' taste in beer is characterised by two fundamentally different cities. He loves especially characterful and hoppy beers such as (NE)IPAs.Kilian
Kilian's roots are located in the city of Cologne, which is the home of the famous Kölsch Beer, his favourite beer of course is a traditional delicate Kölsch. Cheers!
